Grand Canyon

Liam,
Your artistic representation of the meaning to you of the events of 9-11-01 reminds me of the many brave and heroic acts of our professional first responders to protect our beautiful country on that day. As an ordinary citizen, I am inspired to make a difference in our country’s future every day by simple things, like remembering to reduce my carbon footprint and reaching out to others with random acts of kindness.

Glacier National Park

Attached is our picture of contrasts…New York and Glacier National Park. Sam’s Great-Grandfather Marvin Aaron was one of many draftsmen who drafted the World Trade Center and made it possible to be erected. He was very proud of that accomplishment.

Hoboken, New Jersey

This photo of Mary's "Peace" artwork was taken in Hoboken, NJ looking across the Hudson River at the "Freedom Tower" being constructed in lower Manhattan. The tall dark building you see in the background is "One World Trade Center". As we're just past the 10th anniversary of Sept 11, 2001, seeing the progress of this building gives us cause for hope as our nation continues it's long, slow process of healing and restoration. I pray for those we lost in the terrorist attack, and for peace... every day. The artwork is on the way to Florida!

Love you,
Aunt Pamie

Mississippi River

Shannon Disbennett submitted this photo from the banks of the Mississippi River.  She included this message:
"Josh's artwork reminds me that family is very important. I took his artwork to my hometown area of the Quad Cities and talked to my family about September 11th. On that day in 2001, we were all calling family members on the phone to check on each other since we lived in different cities across the country. We were very worried about my husband who was attending a meeting with the U.S. Navy near Washington D.C. that day. I was so relieved to hear his voice later in the morning and called family to let everyone know that he was OK."

Both Maddie and Brian sent their artwork to Pawleys Island.  Jeane Steele left these messages for them:

Maddie,
Your art work of inspiring words and pictures reminded me of what a wonderful country we live in with the strength and desire to move forward even after such a dark day in our nation's history as September 11, 2001.

Brian,
Thank you for reminding me with your fine picture of the patriotism of the firefighters as they did their job and gave their lives rescuing those in the twin towers on September 11, 2001.
